Purpose:
~To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children while at New Victoria Baptist Church, ages 0-5 years in a clean environment.
Responsibilities:
~Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which may include: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer.
~Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
~For the Toddlers & Preschoolers: Read a specified Bible story to the children and assist them in their craft of the day. ~All craft materials will be prepped and ready each Sunday Morning/Wednesday Evening. When weather is nice, take a trip out the playground with the kids.
Childcare Hours:
~Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Hours may change as service times change, with at least a 2 weeks' notice)
~Wednesday Evenings from 6:15-8:15. (This is only on Wednesdays during August-May, and some Wednesdays are excluded)
~Additional Hours will be offered for church conferences, meetings, gatherings or other times when childcare is needed.
~Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child's registration form.
~In the event of an emergency notify the security team and follow proper protocol as posted in classrooms.
Straighten the room and clean and sanitize any toys before leaving.
~Attend an evaluation after a 90-day probationary period and thereafter annually.
~Report to the Children's Director or Volunteer on Duty any issues which are hindering the carry out of the duties or responsibilities of this position.
~Communicate in advance, by phone to the Children's Director or Designated Representative any planned absences with an advance of at least two weeks AND/OR any unplanned absences as soon as time allows.
Desired Qualifications:
~Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 5 with the ability to adapt and interact with each child and their varying needs.
~At least 17 years of age.
~Satisfactory completion of background check.
~Must be able to lift a 40lb child safely.
~Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, stand for 60+ minutes and walk safely. Sitting on the floor with the children and being able to get up easily is important.
